Jessner peels are superficial peels. The main ingredient is salicylic acid that deeply penetrates the pores to help remove congested sebum and dead skin cells.
Jessner peels are ideal for those with oily skin and associated conditions. This peel will visually retexture thickened or oily skin, improve the appearance of enlarged pores, pigmentation and exfoliate the skin’s upper layer, allowing improved absorption of active skin products.
We recommend a course of 3 to 6 peels, this is dependent on skin type, skin condition, peel strength and the desired outcome. At 2 to 4 weekly intervals.
Avoid unprotected UV (sun) exposure for a minimum of 4 weeks prior to treatment. It is recommended you avoid unprotected UV exposure throughout the duration of your treatments.
The use of exfoliating skincare products recommended by your Dermal Therapist will help prepare the skin for treatments and enhance results.
Discontinue using prescription vitamin A (Retrieve ®, Retin A®, Steva A®) or high-strength over the counter retinol 5 days before your treatment unless advised otherwise.
If you have a history of herpes/cold sores, you may wish to take anti-viral medication prior to treatment, to prevent an onset.
Areas treated with muscle relaxants (eg. BOTOX®) or dermal fillers must be completely healed (eg. no swelling, bruising, redness or discomfort) before any skin treatment can be performed.
Do not have waxing done or anything that may cause trauma to the skin prior to the treatment.
Do not use any moisturisers or lotions which are highly perfumed or contain active ingredients such as retinol, glycolic acids or vitamin C. Please use bland products during the healing phase or until your skin is no longer sensitive. Thereafter please use your prescribed skin care regime.
Wear broad spectrum SPF 30+ or 50 (UVA/UVB) daily and avoid unprotected UV (sun) exposure.
Avoid water for 4-6 hours immediately after your chemical peel
Avoid heat-inducing activities for 24-48 hours.
Avoid chlorinated pool water for 24-48 hours.
Do not pick or pull at any areas of crusting, as this may increase your chances of infection resulting in a scar.
Do not have waxing done or anything that may cause trauma to the skin during the healing phase.
If you have any concerns with your treatment, please contact your ASPIRE clinic immediately so we can advise on post care instructions.
