TCA PEELS

One of the original skin rejuvenation peels, TCA (tri-chloroacetic acid) is a mild chemical peel used to resurface sun damaged, aged skins. The peel depth is dependent on the patient’s skin type, skin condition and desired outcome, though there will be a noticeable improvement after each peel.

TCA peels help minimise pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, and stimulates the production of collagen in the lower layers of your skin. This results in a healthier skin and more youthful look.

We recommend a course of 3 to 6 peels, which is dependent on skin type, skin condition, peel strength and the desired outcome.

  • Improves photo ageing (premature ageing caused from the sun)
  • Helps to visually retexture the skin
  • Hydrates, plumps and firms the skin
  • Exfoliation of the skin’s upper layers allows improved absorption of active ingredients
  • Improves clarity and helps restore radiance to the complexion

Day 1 to 3 – Tight, dry skin with mild redness and sensitivity

Day 2 to 5 – Areas of darkened skin (this is the old skin in preparation to peel)

Day 3 to 7 – Peeling or slight flaking lasting 2 to 5 days

  • Avoid unprotected UV (sun) exposure for a minimum of 4 weeks prior to treatment. It is recommended you avoid unprotected UV exposure throughout the duration of your treatments to achieve maximum results.
  • Wear broad spectrum minimum SPF 30+ (UVB/UVA) daily.
  • The use of exfoliating skin care products recommended by your Dermal Therapist will help prepare the skin for treatments and enhance results.
  • Discontinue using prescription vitamin A (Retrieve ®, Retin A®, Steva A®) or highstrength over the counter retinol 5 days before your treatment unless advised otherwise.
  • If you have a history of herpes/cold sores, you may wish to take anti-viral medication prior to treatment, to prevent an onset.
  • Areas treated with muscle relaxants (eg. BOTOX®) or dermal fillers must be completely healed (eg. no swelling, bruising, redness or discomfort) before any skin treatment can be performed.
  • Do not have waxing done (or anything that will cause trauma to the skin) 48-72 hours prior treatment.
  • Do not use moisturisers or lotions which are highly perfumed or contain active ingredients such as retinol, glycolic acids and vitamin C. Instead please use bland products during the healing phase or until your skin is no longer sensitive. Thereafter please use your prescribed skin care regime.
  • Wear broad spectrum SPF 30+ (UVA/UVB) daily and avoid unprotected UV (sun) exposure.
  • Avoid water for 4-6 hours immediately after your chemical peel.
  • Avoid heat inducing activities for 12-24 hours
  • Avoid chlorinated water for 12-24 hours
  • Do not pick or pull at any areas of crusting, as this may increase your chances of infection resulting in a scar.
  • Do not have waxing done or anything that may cause trauma to the skin during the healing phase.
  • If you have any concerns with your treatment, please contact Aspire Training Clinic immediately so we can advise on post care instructions.
