AHA Peel

Glycolic/Lactic peels are excellent for resurfacing the skin while also increasing the moisture levels. It is applied to the skin in various strengths ranging from 20-30% for varying time frames depending on the desired result and skins response.

These peels loosen thickened surface layers that appear as dry, rough and scaly skin whilst stimulating the production of collagen in the deeper layers. As the uppermost layers are sloughed away, a smoother textured and healthier skin is revealed.

Glycolic peels are used to treat mild sun damage, pigmentation and congestion.

Glycolic and lactic peels are designed to be completed as a course of six, weekly or fortnightly sessions. More or less may be required depending on the condition being treated, your desired results, the strength of the peels and home skin care regimen.

  • Helps fight acne by exfoliating dead skin cells that often clog pores and trigger breakouts.
  • Fades mild hyperpigmentation like dark spots, age spots, freckles, and melasma.
  • It reduces the look of fine lines.
  • Helps to clear congested and clogged pores beneath the skin’s surface.
  • It helps fight blemishes visible on the skin.
  • It improves the appearance of skin texture.
  • It boosts radiance of the skin.

Day 1: Mild erythema and sensitivity.
Day 2 to 3: Possible flaking and exfoliation of the skin. This is uncommon and not always visible for lower strength chemical peels.

  • Avoid unprotected UV (sun) exposure for a minimum of 4 weeks prior to treatment. It is recommended you avoid unprotected UV exposure throughout the duration of your treatments to achieve maximum results.
  • The use of exfoliating skin care products recommended by your Dermal Therapist will help prepare the skin for treatments and enhance results.
  • Discontinue using prescription vitamin A (Retrieve ®, Retin A®, Steva A®) or highstrength over the counter retinol 5 days before your treatment unless advised otherwise.
  • If you have a history of herpes/cold sores, you may wish to take anti-viral medication prior to treatment, to prevent an onset.
  • Areas treated with muscle relaxants (eg. BOTOX®) or dermal fillers must be completely healed (eg. no swelling, bruising, redness or discomfort) before any skin treatment can be performed.
  • Do not have waxing done (or anything that will cause trauma to the skin) 48-72 hours prior treatment.
  • Do not use moisturisers or lotions which are highly perfumed or contain active ingredients such as retinol, glycolic acids and vitamin C. Instead please use bland products during the healing phase or until your skin is no longer sensitive. Thereafter please use your prescribed skin care regime.
  • Wear broad spectrum SPF 30+ (UVA/UVB) daily and avoid unprotected UV (sun) exposure.
  • Avoid heat inducing activities for 12-24 hours
  • Avoid chlorinated water for 12-24 hours
  • Do not pick or pull at any areas of flaking, as this may increase your chances of infection resulting in a scar.
  • If you have any concerns with your treatment, please contact Aspire Training Clinic immediately so we can advise on post care instructions.
